Course contents :
The following concepts will be studied during this course:
  • a reminder of the stages involved in developing a health promotion project
  • evaluations in the field of health promotion
  • Tools and project scoring rubric.
Learning outcomes of the course :
General objectives
  • Develop a health promotion project that answers a public health problem and is centred on a publicised intervention
  • Evaluate the project from a holistic perspective
Specific objectives
  • Know the stages involved in developing a health promotion project
  • Define evaluation concepts
  • Be aware of the implications of the evaluation in the context of setting up a health promotion project 
  • Know and choose indicators that are relevant to the health promotion projects involved, the amount of time available, and the evaluation criteria

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
  • Theoretical concepts will be presented to students in such a way to guide the research necessary to complete their group assignment. This group research will be completed with personal research.
  • Students will complete a group assignment centred on designing and evaluating a health promotion project.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
The in-person classes will:
  • provide the basic theoretical knowledge necessary to complete the group assignment;
  • allow students to be supervised when completing their group assignment.
A certain amount of class time is allotted to the group assignment. Any additional work should be done at home.
Recommended or required readings :
The projects presented in class, as well as the theoretical illustrations, will be available in electronic format on MyULg.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Written assignment, produced by groups of 3 or 4 students, on the development and evaluation of a health promotion project.
The last class will be devoted to presenting these projects. The presentations themselves will not be evaluated, but they will provide an opportunity for students to get feedback on their work as a group, with a view to improving it.

  • Attendance in class is strongly encouraged;
  • The students' involvement in the group activities will be evaluated.
