Course contents :
Concepts and practices for prevention, promotion and education in the fields of health and community health - Related strategies. Social health inequalities Organisation of the sector's promotion and monitoring in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (legal framework, transfer of responsibilities, political developments).
Learning outcomes of the course :
  • Differentiate between the concepts, practices and strategies used for prevention, promotion and education in the field of health, as well as the relationships between the various approaches
  • Identify the various strategies and practical concepts used in the field of public health
  • Identify the goals of prevention and consider their various levels of classification as defined by the WHO
  • Appreciate the importance of the role of determinants of health in social inequalities in health
  • Identify the players involved and their practices
  • Broaden the sector's vision
  • Improve knowledge of the organisation
  • Identify and describe the main health promotion organisations in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (WBF), including in terms of goals, missions and target demographic
  • Identify and analyse, using a number of human behaviour models, the psycho-social factors that have an influence on the adoption of a given behaviour;
  • Identify the health promotion strategies developed by organisations such as the WHO or the WBF
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
The course will call upon the students' professional experience.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
The course will alternate between presentations and workshops.

An electronic version of the slides used during lecture classes will be made available to students on the MyULg online portal.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Written exam featuring multiple-choice questions and open questions with short answers, covering all of the course's contents.
