Course contents :

| Evolution and diversity of primates. Taxonomy, ecology, reproduction and development. Social structure, cooperation and competition, conflict regulation and resolution. Inter-specific interactions, conservation. Cognitive capacities in natural environment. | ||

Learning outcomes of the course :

| Emphasis on diversity in primates, from taxonomy, social structures and organizations, to cognitive capacities. Develop a comparative approach betwwen human and non-human primates.. Realize a bibliographical synthesis. | ||

| Readings of reference texts, writing and presentation of thematic summaries, attending the one-day Belgian group for Primatology meeting, recording exercices of primates behavioral data.
Illustrated talks, supervising observational exercices as well as individual essais. |

| One complete day will be needed for the BGP meeting, and two-other consecutive days for the observational session that will take place in the Koln Zoo. We are hoping for financing, but in the worst of the cases, the budget would be 80 Euros covering train and lodging. This is also possible to keep the budget lower by sharing cars. The price for one night including the breakfast and a supper is about 37 €. The dates are to be arranged betwen us. | ||
