Course contents :

| -Definition and characterization of scientific frauds (or misconducts) on the basis of the classifications published by national (FNRS) and international agencies funding scientific research and of other sources. -Methods for studying scientific fraud. -Relationships between scientific fraud and low-quality experimental, methodological and social practices identified in many scientific fields ("bad science"). -Relationships between scientific fraud and the international system of funding and evaluating scientific production and scientists. -Suggested or adopted strategies aiming at reducing the growth of scientific misconduct. | ||

Learning outcomes of the course :

| -Critical thinking. -More realistic knowledge of the real fonctionning of some aspects of contemporary science. -Reminding that the social responsability of scientists requires that they maintain high standards of ethical principles and methodolical quality in their eveyday work. | ||
