Study Programmes 2015-2016
NEUR0435-1
Developmental neurotoxicology
Duration :
30h Th
Number of credits :
Master in biology of organisms and ecology (120 ECTS)3
Master in biology of organisms and ecology (120 ECTS)3
Lecturer :
Jean-Christophe Plumier
Language(s) of instruction :
French language
Organisation and examination :
Teaching in the second semester
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite :
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Course contents :
This course offers to study specific topics in toxicology during animal developpement according to students' needs. Studied topics depend upon students' interests for a precise problem possibly related to their honour thesis.
Learning outcomes of the course :
The main goal consists in giving answers to specific problems of toxicology during development in animals. In this course, all levels of physiology (molecular, cellular and organ aspects) will be examined to draw a global scheme of toxicological and physiological mechanisms in play.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Cell Physiology, animal physiology, histology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistrry
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Each student will choose precise topics in developmental toxicology under the teacher's advise. The student will develop the various (molecular, cellular, ...) aspects related to the topics and propose physiological mecanisms underlying the studied case. If possible, each student will present his/her comprehensive work for discussion.
Recommended or required readings :
Assessment methods and criteria :
The final appreciation will be determined mostly on the basis of the written reports and, eventually, on an oral presentation and the active interaction during the course depending on the number of attending students.
Work placement(s) :
Organizational remarks :
The course will be organized to accomodate students' schedule.
