Course contents :
Introduction to spanish-american short fiction.
Learning outcomes of the course :
The latin-american short story. The student should be able to situate the short story as a genre in latin-american literature. He can explain f.e. the following literary concepts: the theory of literature by Borges, the fantastic, magical realism, etc. He will also be capable to situate some important latin-american writers such as Borges, Fuentes, Cortázar, García Márquez and Monterroso.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Ex cathedra with active participation by the students.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

Some help will be offered so as make the students capable of writing a paper in spanish.

Antology with short stories and literary criticism will be available at the Copy Shop Flash Copy from the 16 Septembre 2015.

- Gabriel García Márquez, Crónica de una muerte anunciada. Debolsillo.
- Julio Cortázar, Historias de cronopios y famas. Puntodelectura     Students will have the opportunity to by the books at the beginning of the year.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Written and oral exam in January. Personal paper (30% of the global result).
