Course contents :

This course enables students to improve their practice of business Dutch and focusses on skills such as writing an email, applying for a job, giving a presentation, interpreting and presenting graphs and figures, negociating, taking part in meetings and discussions based on case studies.
Learning outcomes of the course :
Allowing students to:
  • increase their general and business vocabulary
  • express themselves fluently and accurately about complex subjects and in professional situations that are specific to the business world
  • write clear and well-structured business reports, letters,... using accurate and correct language
  • improve their listening skills of business Dutch
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
The  level required corresponds to the level reached after completion of Dutch level 4 taught in the 1st year of the master's degree.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
This cours aims at improving the four language skills with respect to business Dutch through the reading of documents, case studies, discussions, role playing, written tasks and listening comprehensions.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
This course is delivered face-to-face and taught 2 hours a week.

Coursebook "NEDERLANDS NIVEAU 5" 2015-2016  Available online (Myulg) and at Intercopy. All other documents handed out in class are also available online (Myulg)
Assessment methods and criteria :
1. In-class assessment:
  • presentation (group of 4): 2/20
  • writing of a cv: 1/20
2. Written examination: 9/20
  • listening comprehension (2p)
  • assessing vocabulary knowledge, command of language structures, writing and reading skills (7p)
3. Oral examination: 8/20: assessment of oral skills.
