Course contents :

| As opposed to the introductory course, this course requires students' active participation, as they will be asked to read various articles, and to present and discuss reading notes.
The course will provide an overview of the mainstream approaches of economic history (the former economic and social history in the french speaking tradition) : quantitative history, new economic history, business history, etc.; the course will pay a large attention to the crisis of the discipline and to the ways of its renewal. The students will be invited to present a review of the historical literature on a special topic (to be defined, group work). |

| By the end of the course, students will be able to research recent historical literature on defined questions of economic history, to discuss them in a scientific context and finally to integrate them into their own research. | ||||||||

Assessment methods and criteria :

| The assessment criteria aim to reflect the course options. The oral exam will account for only 60% of points while the activities required throughout the course and the written essay will receive 40%. | ||||||||
