Course contents :
- Review of a smattering of quantitative analytical chemistry.
- Sampling and samples preservation.
- The study of physico-chemical characteristics: pH, conductivity,
- The notions of acidity, alkalinity, hardness.
- The various forms of nitrogen and phosphorus in waters.
- The determination of dissolved gases.
- Pollution tracers, COD.
- The determination of ions (cations and anions) and toxic elements.
- Introduction to principal instrumental technics in water analysis.
Learning outcomes of the course :
To tackle the fundamentals of the composition and the examination of waters and wastewaters.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- understand the techniques of analyses of waters;
- organize and carry out the usual analyses of waters;
- interprete and comment on the results of the analysis.
