Study of the sedimentary part of the geological cycle.
  • Alteration
  • Transport
  • Deposition
  • Post-sedimentary evolution.
As a synthesis, the different processes are highlighted in the various environments of our planet.

Introduction to sedimentary petrology. The student has to be able to identify the different sedimentary process. A special attention is given to sedimentary structures.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
General geology.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Lectures with slides, movies and rock samples.Description and interpretation of different types of sedimentary structures based on rock samples. Fieldtrips: karstic morphologies and littoral sedimentation.
