General Geology lays the foundations of Earth Sciences and addresses the various natural processes leading to the formation and destruction of rocks, oceans, mountains, and celestial bodies. The "geological cycle" will be analyzed from a microscopic to a macroscopic scale, starting from a quartz grain to reach the internal structure of the Earth and the geology of planets.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| Three hours-lectures and 4 hours-practical sessions where active participation is required to fix the concepts and the complex interconnection of geological processes.
Five fieldwork days 8h complete the course to illustrate concepts and processes analysed in the course and train the student to the geology of Belgium and north-west of France (Boulonnais). |
