Units courses prerequisite and corequisite :
| Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program | |||||
Course contents :
| Study of brittle deformation: joints, tension gashes and faults. Study of ductile deformation: cleavage and lineation, boudinage, shear zones, folds (geometric analysis, folding process, secondary structures in folds). | |||||
Learning outcomes of the course :
| Recognition and interpretation of tectonic structures, from the scale of the thin section to the regional scale (map). | |||||
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
| Prerequisite: course of General Geology. There is no recommended optional programme component. | |||||
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| Theoretical lectures, using a Power Point presentation. Practical works of two types: (1) exercises and (2) recognition and interpretation of tectonic structures based on different materials (samples, photographs, maps). | |||||
