4. Transgenic animals - Transgenic mice - Transgenesis in other mammals and in birds - Reproductive cloning - Transgenesis in Xenopus - Transgenic fishes - Transgenesis in Drosophila
5. Regulatory aspects of experimenting or placing on the market of GMO - History - European directives on GMO - Biological risk assesment - The situation in Belgium - Deliberate release and marketing of GMO
Learning outcomes of the course :
To get informed of the potential of genetic engineering in the study of living organisms, as well as in the improvement of species for human use and for the production of recombinant proteins.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Molecular biology and genetics (courses of the bachelier in Biology). Genetic engineering (course of the BBMC and BIM master programs).
