Course contents :
The course discusses various current topics in economic policymaking - with a special focus on budgetary implications. Possible topics : Tax policy and fiscal consolidation in Europe and beyond, tax competition, aging pressures.
Learning outcomes of the course :
Ability to extract the essential elements from multifaceted and complicated economic issues.
Presentation and discussion of the main economic policy problems - in oral and writing.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Compulsory prerequisites:
  • Microeconomics.
  • Macroeconomics.
  • Introduction to Public Finance.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
  • Group work and presentations
  • Individual active participation in presentations and discussions of topics in economics
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Lectures with student presentations. Participation in classes is essential, and graded.
Recommended or required readings :
Thematic readingsfor each lecture - announced on the Lola platform.
Assessment methods and criteria :
There is no written exam!
Active class participation is graded according to the rules outlined above
The grades obtained in June apply to both exam sessions
