Learning outcomes of the course :
At the end of this course, students should be able to :
  • Describe the organization of Health System in Belgium, its origin and objectives
  • Understand the specificity of the Health Economics
  • Analyse the mechanisms and parameters influencing the growth of spending, including drug expenditure, and ways to contain this growth
  • Decompose the price of drugs, calculate the patient's co-payment
  • Describe methodology of drug use evaluations and pharmacoeconomic studies
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Having completed an internship in community pharmacy is helpful to put in perspective the theoretical lecture with field practice.

Lectures, discussions and exercises

Face-to-face learning 1st semester, 5 x 2 hours

Assessment methods and criteria :
Written test with QCM and with open questions, short questions, exercises, ... A calculator is required for the examination.
