Course contents :

- Description of polymers and surfactants adopted in the formulations of cosmetology. Analysis of the relationship structure-function.
Through a better understanding of the physiology and ultrastructure of the skin, the students would be able to better understand the behaviour of cosmetics when in contact with the skin and the way to improve their safety.

Learning outcomes of the course :

The student will learn :

properties and functionalities of xenobiotics adopted for the formulations in cosmetology
the efficacy of the skin barrier (structure and composition)
the different factors controling the diffusion of xenobiotics through the skin and the biological mechanisms modulating their diffusion.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :

Basic knowledge in chemistry, biology, biochemistry and physic is requested.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

Theoretical lectures combined with question / answers.
