| Surface active agents are present in numerous formulated products and used in the production process of many materials. This course aims to provide a comprehensive approach on general principles of surface-active agents physical chemistry and their formulation in finished products. The main families of surface-active agents will be presented (12h). Finally, the use of surfactants for the polymerization process in aqueous dispersed media will be discussed (3h). | ||||||||||||||
Learning outcomes of the course :
| This course aims to make students familiar with the surface-active compounds currently used in industry and to provide them with the underlying basic physico-chemical principles. | ||||||||||||||
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
| Basic knowledge of chemistry. | ||||||||||||||
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| Six lessons (2h each) will be devoted to the presentation of the main categories of surface-active agents. One lesson (3h) will describe the use of surfactants for the polymerization in aqueous dispersed media. | ||||||||||||||
Recommended or required readings :
| A copy of the slides (in French and/or in English) will be furnished to the students. | ||||||||||||||
