Course contents :
Construction: buildings Approach (concepts, materials, practical implementation works) of Western European construction techniques of buildings: project scheduling, building works chronology, foundations, masonry, floors, carpentry, pitched roofs, platform roofs, woodwork, staircases, chimneys
Construction: buildings and pathologies Determination of an approach followed by a building pathology expert:
  • finding, observation and noticing of the accident
  • understanding and diagnosis
  • technical specifications of repairing
  • preventive action to avoid a further appearance of the damage.
Learning outcomes of the course :
Constructions: buildings To familiarize the student with the construction techniques and their specific vocabulary.
Constructions: buildings and pathologies To acquire a technical look observing building pathologies.

Constructions: buildings Ex-cathedra presentation of well illustrated construction principles.
Constructions: buildings and pathologies Presentation of real-life pathology cases with many illustrations + personal student's exercice: reporting of two pathology cases.

Constructions: buildings and pathologies Presentation, by the student, of two pathology cases he (she) has photographed, observed and he (she) comments, according to the methodology followed by an expert in building pathologies.
