| As the first field of investigation in the history of the discipline, and declared to be "in crisis" by some in the 20th Century, interest in the anthropology of kinship is once more on the rise. More than ever, it appears to be necessary to grasp the dynamics of contemporary societies in both the North and the South. The examination of the main theories, key concepts and vocabulary in the field, emerging from contemporary thematic investigations, will enable the cultural and social construction of the family to be understood. This theoretical approach will be coupled with an interactive presentation of methodological tools. | ||

Learning outcomes of the course :

| Students will have a good knowledge of the main theories and key concepts in this field up to the time at which it was thrown into doubt. They will be able to use the theoretical and methodological tools presented in class (definitions, diagrams and vocabulary of the anthropology of kinship). | ||
