 Presentation
The endo-osseous implantation of artificial dental roots has today become very reliable. This involves a preprosthetic surgical technique which brings an effective solution to unitary, partial or total edentulism. Oral implantology is consequently a clinical discipline which is rapidly developing and which is the focus of intense research activity.
This discipline requires the acquisition of very in-depth concepts of prosthetic oral reconstruction, occlusodonty, paradontology (including specific concepts of immunology and microbiology, paradontology), anatomy and oral surgery, bone metabolism, the interaction of living tissue with biomaterials ... Training to acquire these skills on a theoretical and clinical level has been indispensable for several years. The aim of the present collaboration is to further improve the level of training already given in the partner universities by encouraging intellectual debate and drawing upon experience.
Special conditions of access / students concerned
This course is aimed at doctors of Dental Surgery (France), Dental Surgeons (France), Stomatologist doctors (France), holders of a Masters in Dental Sciences (Belgium) or a foreign degree which is judged to be equivalent. Interested individuals should contact the head of the course to discuss their application.
Alongside their diplomas, candidates must provide a detailed CV and a letter of motivation. They must provide proof of having undergone basic theoretical training in implantology, have at least three years professional experience and at least one year's clinical experience in implantology. Exceptions may be made to these latter two conditions if the candidate passes a theoretical admission examination organised by the Education Board, covering the fundamental bases of the uses of implantology and oral rehabilitation. Students register with and pay fees to the university of their choice (ULg or the University of Corsica). They are except from paying fees in the host university.
 Duration of the training

- Two years of part time study (15 credits per year)
- Splitting may be authorised by the jury.
- On the basis of passing an admission examination adapted to the type of training in advance, the length of the Certificate may be reduced to one year for holders of the University Certificate in Bucco-Dental Reconstruction, the Complementary Masters in Parodontology or the Complementary Masters in Stomatology.
