· Introduction and objectives of epidemiology applied to veterinary public health

· The major indicators in epidemiology

· Presentation of the Win Episcope 2. 0 ® software

· Evaluation of diagnosis methods

· Sampling and epidemiological inquiries

· Etiological studies

· Modelization in Epidemiology

· Directed exercises using the Win Episcope 2.0 ® software
Learning outcomes of the course :  
· The student will be able to understand and participate to epidemiological inquiries

· The student will be able to lead simple epidemiological inquiries

· The student will be able to interpret the results of diagnosis tests.

· The student will be able to use the Win Episcope 2. 0 ® software by him/herself
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
· The student would have previously followed a course of introduction to epidemiology
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Interactive course.
Learning problem solving.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
· 10 hours of interactive course and 5 hours of directed works in the multimedia room

· Theory is widely illustrated by a computer-helped presentation

· Interactions between teacher and students take place during the course

· The teacher is available to answer questions at the end of the course

Assessment methods and criteria :  
· An oral exam is organized. First the student prepares a questionnaire with questions and subquestions related to the course (one point when the answer is right). Questions deal with general principles and concepts of epidemiology, but also with simulation exercises.
