Course contents :
|
| The dead ruminants coming from the departments of the faculty or sent for necropsy by the veterinary practitioners are an efficient pedagogical tool. |
|
Learning outcomes of the course :
|
| At the end of the training, the students are supposed be able, from necropsy cases, to:
- identify and describe the gross lesions ;
- make an anatomopathological diagnosis by using the appropriate vocabulary and prioritize the lesions;
- establish a link between lesions and diseases ;
- define the cause of death ;
- provide further investigations to make or confirm an etiological diagnosis ;
- write a necropsy report as complete and objective as possible. |

Assessment methods and criteria :
|
| Each day, the student will carry out a necropsy exam of a ruminant and draft a preliminary report which will be used as a basis for discussion with the supervisor.
The daily evaluation will assess the relevance of the reported lesions, the knowledge and understanding of the main pathological mechanisms, the cross disciplinary approach of the case and the quality of written and oral presentations on the case. |
