Course contents :  
All chapters deal with clinical biochemistry and hematology, from basics (related to laboratory) to diseases regarding different metabolisms (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids), and tissues (blood, digestive system, liver, kidney,...), wich are the subject of daily routine. A special emphasis is made on the interpretation of laboratory results.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The objective is to reach the fundamental concepts of clinical veterinary biochemistry and hematology. The main aim is to give the student the tools to understand easily clinical biology when he/she will be in the veterinarian field.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Biochemistry courses of the first cycle (Bachelor, 2nd and 3rd years).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Practical works are aimed to helping students to interpret correctly the results from the laboratory. Practical works are compulsory.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
face-to-face delivery. The time schedules of the theoretical and practical teachings are available at the secretarial office and on the website of the Faculty of Veterinay Medicine. Any change is annouced orally during courses, and put on the intranet portal of the university.
Recommended or required readings :  
The notes are available at the "Office des Cours de la Faculté de Médecine Vétérinaire" (Bât. B42), on "MyULg" website, and on the unit website (www.fmv-dsfo.ulg.ac.be/biomol/).
Assessment methods and criteria :  
The examination consists into a written exam.
