Course contents :
 |
| Introduction to SA surgery is carried out via the participation in receivings, surgical procedures and cares given to hospitalized patients during after-hours duties (nights and weekends). |

Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| - To practice surgical propedeutics
- To learn how to make a diagnosis, a pronostic and take a surgical decision
- To learn how to assess pre and post operative status and to perform post-op cares
- To get acquainted the operating theatre via participation in emergency surgical procedures. |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

| To possess a diploma in Veterianry medicine acknowledged by the Communauté Française de Belgique and have performed a 1-year small animal rotating internship. |
 |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| Each student will perform 8 weeks of after-hours duties in the SA surgery clinic. Schedule will be available at the beginning of the program. |
