Course contents :  
The occurence of mass casualities is responsible for such important changes that usual health care principles, devoted to single patient care, are no longer appropriate.
First aid and health care management under these conditions require the developpement of a specific organisation with the aim of medical system organisation on site.
It also requires the use of specific skills and distribution of health care ressources according to pre-established guidelines.

Students are intended to gain the opportunity of learning and understanding the specific requirements of planification and management of disasters accidents.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The course objective is the learning of the specific features of disasters, the material and human impact of those accidents and the health care organisation and planification needs.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Individual emergency care knowledge.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Disaster simulation / exercices.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Theory by 2 hours-period courses.

Specific elements of on site medical system organisation, triage, medical management and conditioning will be approached successively.

Then, the course will deal with the particular aspects of collective management of traumas, burns, blasts, natural disasters, nuclear, radiation, biological or chemical incidents, as well as weapons of mass destruction.
