Course contents :  
The Lorentz group, discrete groups, some applications of discrete group theory, continuos groups (Lie groups), representation theory and applications to quantum mechanics. Young tables and applications to particle physics: the eightfold way, gauge invariance and group invariant Lagrangians.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Group theory techniques for the solution of problems in quantum mechanics, special relativity and particle physics.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Linear algebra, special relativity and basic aspects of quantum mechanics.
