| The Sociology of Employment course aims to train students in the sociological analysis of forms of employment and employment statutes |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| By the end of the course, students will be able to :
- Identify the controversies in the literature
- Understand the concepts, methodological principles and the many facets of research.
- Apply these concepts and principles to the analysis of empirical cases
- Establish links between different theoretical, methodological and empirical elements
- Criticise or evaluate certain theoretical and/or normative positions
- Produce a tightly worked argument on a theoretical question

| The course, focus on the sociology of employment and unemployment, presents and is structured around three theoretical approaches:
- the cognitive approach, centred on the reference systems of employment policies;
- the institutional approach, open to international comparison between the different employment systems;
- the pragmatic approach, which depends on the processes for implementing employment policies. |
