Course contents :

| During the 1st Masters, students will carry out a work placement worth 12 credits in a working environment likely to lead to the acquisition of expertise in the field of the science of work.
The seminar aims to support students through their work experience. It will provide them with the methodological tools necessary to acquire the ability to adopt a critical position and to set out a research problem based on their observations. Finally, the seminar will help students to structure their placement report. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| The course has a two-fold objective. On the one hand, it offers the tools for analysing the work placement from a methodological point of view. On the other hand, it offers a theoretical framework for students' experiences on the ground, using a collectively constructed research problem.
Generally speaking, the seminar allows students to acquire methodological bases to carry out a research in social sciences. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| The seminar will be organised in two blocks:
- In the first term, classes will give students the opportunity to acquire methodological tools for research in the social sciences field.
- The second term will be devoted to carrying out the work placement as well as drafting a work placement report. Classes will be the occasion to monitor the work experience and to develop a collective problematic concerning the issue of technologies within companies. In this context, students will be asked to read and prepare a reading portfolio including several papers concerning the issue of technologies withing companies as well as carrying out an interview concerning this subject during the work placement.

In addition, a reading portfolio concerning technologies within organisations will be made available online on MyULg in the second term. |

Assessment methods and criteria :
 |
| January session
The material seen during the first term will be the subject of an writing examination during the January session.
June session
Theoretical and methodological knowledge relating to social science research will be assessed through a synthetical piece of work.
A part of this piece of work consists of carrying out an interview, transcribing it and drafting a one-page critical note as well as an overview note.
2nd session
In case of failure at the writing exam the student will be invited to retake the examination in September. In case of failure in the overview note in June the student will be invited to modify it and to present it in September. |
