Course contents :

| In this course, we will review the basics of probability theory and statistical inference, using a mathematical background that will be as accessible as possible.
This course is a prerequisite for the courses of multivariate statistics, linear models and time series analysis for students who would not have had courses on these topics before. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| At the end of this lecture series, the students should know the mathematical prequisites to follow advanced courses of statistics. The should also be able to solve a few problems in statistics or probability. |

| This course is intended for PHD students of the faculty of sciences. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| After explaining each concept, we will illustrate by examples and exercises will be assigned to the students. |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Face-to-face. A schedule will be established in due time, according to the activities of the students that will contact me before October 1, 201. |

Assessment methods and criteria :

| There will be a written exam for the exercises and/or an oral exam for the theory. The final grade will be a weighted mean of the grades obtained for the two exams. |
