Lecturer :  Colette Duez
Language(s) of instruction :
French language
Course contents :
The course presents the different expression and production systems of recombinant proteins, including their purification, in Gram negative (E. coli) or positive (Bacillus, Streptomyces and Lactococcus) bacteria as well as the in vitro expression systems.
The attention is focused on the main protein characteristics to consider before choosing an expression system.
the course is given in french and notes are available at the exact cost price
Learning outcomes of the course :
At the end of the lectures, the student will be able to pay attention to the important characterictics of the target protein and to choose the optimal expression and production system as well as the best suitable host for getting a good production.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
Knowledges in molecular biology and genetic engineering are necessary to follow this course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Teaching with powerpoint slides
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Face-to-face
Recommended or required readings :
Assessment methods and criteria :
The evaluation consists in discussing the proposed expression system for a protein indicated by the teacher at the end of the course and is followed by an oral discussion.
Work placement(s) :
Organizational remarks :
Usually, five lectures are given to present the content of the course.
The students are invited to contact me to know the proposed schedule in agreement with them.
