Learning outcomes of the course :  
General objectives
Students will acquire the basic notions of public health.

Specific objectives
Students will learn about the development of health concepts and how to give a critical opinion on the different definitions of health and public health.
Students will be able to argue why a course of action or research can be identified in the area of public health.
Students will learn the main principles of quality to be respected for each action or research related to public health.

Students will make a connection between the different notions of covered by the concept of public health.
Students will develop a definition of the notion of public health.
Students will understant how a policy of public health is constructed
 
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Interactive teaching involving the creation of a conceptual map by the students. 
Theoretical contributions ex-cathedra.
Tutorial readings.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Face-to-face.
 
Recommended or required readings :  
There is no syllabus. A PowerPoint presentation in the subject will made available to students on the "my Ulg" website.
Targeted lectures will be indicated in sessions or by PowerPoint presentations given to the students.
Required reading: "Fassin D. Faire de la santé publique. Rennes: Editions EHESP,2005."
