| The lecture is subdivided into three parts :
Historical climatic variability (Prof M. Erpicum);
Past, current and forthcoming climatic variability in the framework of climate change (Dr D. Perrin)
Extreme climatic events linked to climatic catastrophes in the framework of climate change and variability (Dr P. Ozer) |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| The lecture will analyse recent climatic variability and its likely trends in the coming decades. Climate change impacts on natural catastrophes will be analysed as well as the adaptation strategies of vulnerable populations. |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

| Notions in climatology. |
 |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| Analysis of long term climate databases in order to be able to calculate both frequency and intensity of extreme climatic events. |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Based on twelve 3-hours lectures, the curses will be given with a Power Point support fully available to the students. |

Recommended or required readings :

| Several refences will be given to the students. Those will be in both French and English. Issued from peer-reviewed journals, all articles will be made available in pdf from this website. |
