REAU0006-2  Water in the soil : mesures and interpretation

Duration :  12h Th, 24h Pr
Number of credits :
Advanced Master in Water Resources3
Lecturer :  Aurore Degré
Language(s) of instruction :
French language
Organisation and examination :
Teaching in the first semester, review in January
Course contents :
The course aims at describing the interactions between soils and water as well as several measurements technics used to assess the hydrodynamic behaviour of soils. It's of major importance to understand the role played by the soils in separation between rainfall infiltration towards groundwater and runoff towards surface water.
The courses contains - fondamentals of soil physics - measurement technics of several hydropodological variables (infiltration capacity, conductivity curve, retention curve, etc...) - sampling technics and measurements in the lab
Learning outcomes of the course :
At the end of the course, the student will be able to - explain the relations between soil and water as well as the infiltration and retention processes - realize some basic measurements on field as well as in the lab, - interpret these measurements
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
The course will be adapted to the profile of the students in the complementary master.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Indoor workshop (30%)

Outdoor workshop (70%)
