Course contents :
| The software "Statistica (Statsoft)" is used extensively throughout the course. The main graphicals techniques (histograms, box plots, cumulative diagrams, scatterplots,...) and tools of descriptive statistics are presented. Position and dispersion parameters (mean, median, percentiles, range, standard deviation, variance, ...) are reviewed. The classical parametric and non parametric tests are presented using Statistica.
Moreover, a specific application related to External Quality assessment is considered in details. |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| The main purpose of the course is to become familiar with the use of a modern statistical software and to discuss the results and meaning of the several statistical methods available to explore and analyse practical data. |
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
| A first course in statistics including descriptive statistics and foundamentals of inferential statistics. |
