Course contents :  
The course considers the principal mental disturbances occuring during old age : depressive and anxious disorders, sleep disorders, dependence with alcohol and drugs, delirium and Alzheimer disease and related disorders. Their semiological characteristics and their prevalence are higlighted. The technics of evaluation are specified. The current methods of treatment and the prospects for clinical research are approached. The specificity and the difficulties of the clinical step with old people are highlighted.In addition, we will also discuss the clinical approach of caregivers of Alzheimer patients (formal and informal caregivers).
Learning outcomes of the course :  
To illustrate the diversity and the specificity of the old people mental disorders. Also the difficulties of the differential diagnosis and the particular requirements of the methods of assessment and intervention.
