Course contents :  
There are two parts to this course:

  • The first part relates to the basic principles of digital encoding and the transfer of medical images, formats, DICOM norms, manipulation and archiving of these images (PACS network).
  • The second part deals with the techniques of repositioning medical images.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
This course gives an insight into the techniques involved in coding images and the formats used in medical imaging as well as how to manipulate, share, transfer and archive images within the imaging department. The theoretical bases of image repositioning (PET, MRI, CT,...) are also presented.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
General physics, concepts of image and signal processing are desirable.

Copies of presentations (ppt and pdf) can be provided.

The course will be the subject of an oral presentation and a written report.
