In this course we will deal with the following chapters :a) general mechanics (kinematics, dynamics, energy, elastic properties of matter), b) optics , c) thermodynamics
Learning outcomes of the course :  
This course deals with a part of Physics. As for the other parts, it aims at giving to the students some knowledge of the fundamental laws which given physical phenomena as well as physical procedures used in the industry. This course constitutes a prerequisite for the advanced applied sciences courses.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Matière vue au cours de sciences en 5e et 6e année de l'enseignement obligatoire - orientation générale (cours commun)
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
- Practical seances are organised with the support of teacher-assistant.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Multimedia presentation supported by an excellent reference textbook (see basic bibliography) which is adapted to teaching basic science to business engineers. A powerpoint application will cover all the course and a syllabus with the copy of the transparencies will be available. The powerpoint application will be completed with numerous animations replacing lab experiments. As far as possible a real life experiment will be presented in class. Many exercises and concept applications will be detailed during the course.
