Course contents :
 |
| The course introduces the measurement issue in educational sciences. It consists of:
1. An introduction devoted to (i) the definition of the measurement concept , by comparison with the concept of evaluation and (ii) the theoritical and practical problems of the measure in human sciences, as well as the different steps of the measurement process;
2. The developement of the measurement framework ;
3. The writting of the questions;
4. Some statistical tools for describing the psychometric properties of a test and of its questions. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| The course aims at :
1. Familiarizing students with the fundamental concepts of psychometrics ;
2. Making students sensitive to the measurement problems encoutered in educational sciences ;
3. Describing the rules and procedures for the elaboration of a measurement instrument ;
4. Enabling students to compute and interpret some psychometric indices from the Classical Test Theory |

Assessment methods and criteria :

| Students will have to (i) build a test for one of the following school subjects (French, Mathematics or Science), (ii) administer it to about 100 students, (iii) analyse the data and (iv) write a report. |
