Course contents :
 |
| The course deals with a series of key concepts of landscape ecology useful to analyse objectively landscape dynamics and patterns. By means of theoretical courses, theoretical exercices and readings of scientific articles, concrete examples of quantitative landscape analyses are explained. The cours contents can change as a function of educational or scientific opportunities or constraints. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| At the end of the course, students are able to explain and use a series of techniques and concepts related to a quantitative analysis of landscapes in an ecological context. |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

| Basic course of ecology. Cours on the concepts of landscape ecology. |
 |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| Theoretical courses (powerpoint presentations), groupe or individual exercices, readings of scientific articles, seminars. Activities may change as a consequence of scientific or educational opportunities or constraints. |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Face-to-face lectures for the theoretical courses. Individual and group exercises on the computer (self-planning). Readings (individually or by group but compulsory participation) of scientific articles in english. Seminars. Changes possible as a function of educational or scientific opportunities or constraints. |

Recommended or required readings :

| Readings and course notes will be communicated during the lectures and will be provided by means of the MyULg system. A significant part will be in english. |

Assessment methods and criteria :
 |
| Oral exam on the theoretical aspects, on the reports of the exercices and on the readings. The contribution of the different parts will be communicated during the lectures. |

Organizational remarks :
 |
| Presence at the theoretical courses is recommended. Every student has to understand well all aspects of the exercises, also for the group exercises. |
