Course contents :  
Table of contents The course is divided into three parts: 1. Theory 2. Practicals 3. Tutorials The theoretical part will be organized in the form of lectures that will address the following topics: public health problems in developing countries, fever of tropical origin, opportunistic diseases associated with AIDS, diseases transmitted by an arthropod (eg American trypanosomiasis, arboviruses), infectious diarrhea. The practicals will take place in the Microbiology department of the University Hospital of Liège with an training in the AIDS Reference Laboratory (detection of HIV viral load) and a training in the field of TB diagnosis (laboratory L3 type) . The "tutorials" will consist of a review of clinical cases with discussion.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Learning objectives to know the main public health problems encountered in the developping countries. to know the main infectious diseases encountered of the developping countries to know the mode of prevention of these diseases and their management

Microbiology course Bac2 and Bac3

The cours will be divided into three parts that allow more interactions with the teacher.

The slides will be posted on e-campus
Recommended reading "The yellow book" CDC Health information for international travel 2012. ED. Oxford University press.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
The exam will be an oral and written examination. The written exam will cover all the therotical content. The oral will focus on the training in the laboratory and the comment of a clinical case comparable to those discussed in the tutorial.
Work placement(s) :  
Stage in the department of Clinical Microbiology of the University of Liège.

The organisation of the course will be planed with the teacher in charge.
