Course contents :  
This course intoduces to the design of machine elements.
CONTENTS

Force determination in a transmission. Preliminary plan of a shaft. General principles of liability. Mechanical tests of materials. Principles of the strength limit determination, for statical and fatigue sollicitations. Hertzian contacts. Rolling bearing computation. Intoduction to ISO tolerances. Screws and bolts. Shaft-hub assembling. Journal bearings.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
After this course, the student will be able to dimension the most used machine elements. This ability will be useful in the integrated project.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Prerequisites :Geometry, rational mechanics, elements of strength of materials.
Corequisites : there is a strong relation between this course and the other one, named Processus industriels de mise à forme. It constitutes also a basis for the course entitled Méthodes de fabrication en série and the integrated project.

Oral course and exercises which are applications.
