Course contents :

| This course is devoted to the work of methods engineers, that is establishing manufacturing shedules, in the case of cutting operations.
CONTENTS :
Choice of a steel. Tolerances and roughness measures. Machining steps dimensioning : scattering, setting dimension, cutting simulation. Fixing devices and rules. Machine/tool interface, from a dimensional point of view. CNC machining. Sawing and broaching. Gear cutting. Screw machining on a lathe. Division. Turning optimization. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| After this course, the student will be able to establish a pertinent fabrication schedule, from the rough to the finished part, in the case of cutting operations. He will also be able to select a steel for a given application. His general knowing of cutting process will be enlarged, including N.C. machining. |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

| Prerequisites : General mechanics, stength of materials, manufacturing processes. In this course, use is made of some concepts which are studied in the course entitled Conception mécanique (tolerances). |
