Course contents :  
Textual semiotics provides a method to analyse texts, literary or not, based upon linguistic premises.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
1. Initiation to methods and practices of internal analysis, particularly of literary texts.
2. Inititation to theoretical problems about linguistic textual analysis.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Competence in French language is essential for an appreciation of the complexities of French texts.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Active seminar. Classe attendance is mandatory. Autumn term. Every wednesday, 10:00-12:00, local A2/4/17. First class : September the 18th, 2014.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
Oral examination based upon a paper written by the student. This paper consists in a textual analysis following the semiotic methods.
