Course contents :  
Presentation of and lectures on foundational texts in Spanish literature, from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. Commentary and critical analysis of required texts, placing them in relation to their historical and social context.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
To develop a critical and attentive reading that will allow students to understand and ideally to participate in the philological and critical discussion concerning masterpieces of Spanish literature. Introduction to certain concepts from narratology and social criticism.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Prior completion of the course in the History of Spanish Literature is highly recommended. In order to understand certain questions, explanations and references students should possess at least an intermediate understanding of Spanish language (A2).

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
This course meets for four hours per week during an entire semester, and about half the meetings will be devoted to working on exercises.
Course is given in French and Spanish.
