Course contents :  
The course contains two parts.
I. «Encyclopedia of the Romanic studies» : a brief and synthetic description of the objects and methods of the Romanic studies, an introductory course in the bibliographical research and a presentation of the most important scientific references in this domain.
II. «Notions of general literature» : this section aims at giving to the student the basic conceptual instruments that he will have to use for the literary part of his studies. The presentation will take the form of an interrogation on the literary fact itself.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of this course, the student will be able of using and mastering the methods, the notions and basic tools of the Romanic studies. He will also be able of developing a reflexive and critical reasoning on the studied objects and on the mobilized disciplines.

Recommended or required readings :  
An electronic syllabus will be put at the disposal of the students.
Besides, students will be asked to arm themselves with the following reference book : ARON (Paul), SAINT-JACQUES (Denis) and VIALA (Alain), Le Dictionnaire du littéraire, Paris, PUF, «Quadrige», 2004.
