Course contents :

- Introduction to major currents in sociological criticism, from Lukacs to Bourdieu, based on this division: sociology of the author/writer, the work/the book, the reader/the public and sociology of the institution of literature.
- Also, internal examination of a particular work, i.e. the Education sentimentale as viewed by Lukacs, Goldmann, Bourdieu, etc., or else external analysis of a literary question: a group, a tendency, a movement, etc.

- To read and or explicate in sociological terms of text or a literary phenomenon.
