Part IV : mechanotherapy : 15h Th
Number of credits :
Bachelor in physiotherapy and readaptation, 2nd year7
Lecturer :  Part I : Biomechanics : Marguerite Foidart-Dessalle, Didier Maquet
Part II : Physiotherapy : Jean-Louis Croisier, Bénédicte Forthomme

Course contents :
Part I : Biomechanics

Analyses of movements and articulary constraints of the limbs including the muscular and articulary testing.
In coordination with the anatomy course, this course analyses the movements of articulations and focuses on range of motion and muscular testing. It analyses the walk. It studies the constraints undergone by the various articulations.

Part II : Physiotherapy

Locomotor rehabilitation This course describes the techniques of articular mobilization useful for the practice of physiotherapy.

Part III : Palpatory anatomy

...

Part IV : mechanotherapy

The structure of the course corresponds to the study of:

  • Mecano-therapy systems: levers - pulleys
  • Specific mountings geared for posture - traction - mobility
  • Guidelines and contra-indications of these systems
  • Loco-regional applications
  • Modern concepts: arthromotors, isokinetic dynamometers

Learning outcomes of the course :
Part I : Biomechanics

To provoke a reflection on the mechanisms and safety of athletic movements.

Part II : Physiotherapy

to raise up a rationale on the effectiveness and safety of the mobilizations in professional practice.

Part III : Palpatory anatomy

...

Part IV : mechanotherapy

Allowing an understanding of therapeutic guidelines and the limits of mechano-therapy in order to integrate it in other re-educative techniques.

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
