Course contents :

| - Business vocabulary (intermediate level) as well as some vocabulary units retrieved from BLED (thematic voabulary).
- No systematic grammatical revision, but a few punctual revisions.
- Listening comprehensions.
- Expressing oneself, giving one's opinion, communicating.
- Academic writing.
- Press file (compiled individually by the students) |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| - To reach the B2 European level of language proficiency.
- In practice: to be able to understand and to express oneself fluently on business and/or economic topics as well as to be able to write academically. |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
 |
| - B1 level.
- Lower intermediate English MUST be acquired at this level since there will be no grammatical revision. Everyday vocabulary and structures must be acquired too as well as some knowledge of business vocabulary. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| - Reading of texts from the Market Leader (3rd edition) as well as texts from newspapers and books.
- Learning of texts vocabulary as well as derived vocabulary.
- Listening comprehensions from the Market Leader and from the BBC World Service + film.
- Group presentations in class of newspaper articles and of a company.
- Rephrasing.
- Learning of academic writing ending up in the writing of a marked essay.
- Speaking (discussions on different topics, case studies etc.) |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| - Essentially in class. There may be some homework such as research for the essay, exercises to do or finish at home or group preparation for the presentations. |

| The notes will be provided on the school platform Lol@ (course code: LANG1953-1). However, it is desirable to come to class in order to take some notes regarding the content of the course which may be useful for answering the content questions in the exam.
