The listening comprehension consists in: - listening and understanding several audio documents
The reading comprehension consists in: - reading and understanding articles from the newspaper 'Wablieft'
The oral expression consists in: - questions and answers - roleplays - small debates
The writing expression consists in: - composing small texts
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Being able to use Dutch as an everyday language as well as the basic structures of the Dutch language. This course aims at developing the four language skills: listening and reading comprehension, oral and written expression, with particular emphasis on oral expression.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
There are no prerequisites.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
grammatical theory active participation of the students in the questions and answers, roleplays and short debates practicals (reading of texts, preparing exercises;writing of small texts)
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
face-to-face 2 hours a week during 1 semester

We work with the following methods: - Coursebook Master1+ exercises (available at the Centrale des cours, rue Louvrex, 14) - website LANG1936-1 Dutch elementary level 1 http://newlola.hec.ulg.ac.be/course - newspaper "Wablieft" (http://www.wablieft.be/krant/wablieft-krant)
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Continuous evaluation:
  • for the small discussions (1/10)
Exams:
  • written exam (30%): vocabulary and grammar exercises,
  • listening comprehension (20%),
  • reading comprehension (10%)
  • writing expression (10%)
  • oral exam (30%): press file of articles from Wablieft (20%) + continuous assessment (10%)
NB: A student who does not present one of the tests, obtains 0/20 as a global mark.
