Course contents :  
The course aims to reinforce the student's oral presentation and interaction skills. The selected topics are closely linked to his/her area of specialty.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Spoken Production At the end of the course the student will be able to make clear and detailed scientific presentations without text nor recitation by heart. The student will use his power point presentation appropriately. Lexical and grammatical control will lead to no misunderstanding. The student's pronunciation and intonation are clear although some influence of the native language might be detectable. Spoken Interaction At the end of the course the student will be able to participate in a conversation with ease and clarity. The student's words lead to no misunderstanding and confirm his understanding of questions. The student will discuss his/her area of specialty, and his/her speech will be fluent, spontaneous, and devoid of long pauses. Lexical and grammatical control will lead to no misunderstanding. The student's pronunciation and intonation are clear and natural although some influence of the native language might be detectable.
Written production At the end of the course, the student will be able to write an efficient power point presentation in relation to his area of specialty.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
The student has to have the B1+ level in English on the reference levels of the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages".
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
E-modules (including theory and exercises) Effective Presentation Skills Effective Powerpoint Writing Presenting and Interacting Writing Emails in English Describing and Interpreting Graphs Revision of Grammar
Coaching session with student assistants (in case of budgetary avaiability) to reinforce presentation and listening skills.

  • TFE-interview (June/Sept.) (80%)
  • Online exam about e-campus modules (June/Sept.) (20%)
